1.1 Describe the location of the company
Ken Lewis: We're called Dutton Engineering (Woodside) and we're based at Sandy in Bedfordshire in England, about 50 miles north of London, and we've been on this site now for, for 16 years. Our customers are electronics whizz kids, so what we make is a metal box in which our customers put electronics.
Tina Mason: My name is Tina Maso, I'm Dutton Engineering's Business Manager, um, based at Sandy in Bedfordshire, and I've been with the company for nearly 11 years now.
Sandy's fairly central to the Anglian region, we're about 50 miles north of London, about 10 south Bedford and very very nicely placed on main road and rail links.
The company was founded in 1972, and that was in Luton, which isn't very far from here. Then the company grew a little, so Dutton Engineering moved to Sandy, had a purpose-built factory, which was very nice for us, and there was also support from the local council to get housing for people if they wanted to move in area and work for you, so that was quite good as well.
